Akashic healing means using what you learn in the Akashic Records to release old patterns, such as past-life pain, family patterns and old vows, so they stop repeating in your life. Cord cutting releases the energy ties that keep you stuck to a person or a past situation. Ancestral healing does the same work for pain passed down your family line, so it can stop with you.
These three words get mixed up a lot online. Let me separate them, gently and simply.
What is Akashic healing?
Akashic healing is healing that starts with seeing. First we look in the Records to find where a problem began. Then we work to release it at that root.
The word comes from ākāśa (आकाश), which means space. The idea is that space holds a record of everything a soul has lived. You can read more on my Akashic Records guide. I want to be honest here: the Akashic Records are not scientifically proven. Some thinkers, like Ervin Laszlo in his book Science and the Akashic Field, have written about the idea of an information field. That is an interesting idea, not proof.
In practice, Akashic healing usually has three parts:
- See it. What is the pattern, and where did it start? This life, a past life, or the family line?
- Release it. Close an old vow, forgive, give back what is not yours to carry.
- Live it. Make small new choices so the brain and body learn a new way.
That third part matters. Science calls it neuroplasticity: the brain can change its patterns. Healing is not a one-time magic moment. It is a new habit, practised.
What is cord cutting and does it work?
Cord cutting means releasing the energy tie that keeps you stuck to a person or a past situation. It works best when you also learn the lesson behind the cord. If you skip the lesson, the cord tends to grow back, often with a new person.
You know a cord is there when:
- You keep checking an ex’s profile, months after it ended.
- One old boss still lives in your head and argues with you in the shower.
- You feel tired after every phone call with one particular person.
- You left a job or a city, but your mind did not.
In Sanskrit there is a word, ṛṇānubandhana (ऋणानुबन्धन), a bond created by a debt between souls. Many cords are like this. Something is still owed: an apology, a thank you, a goodbye. When that is settled inside you, the cord loosens almost by itself.
Does it “work”? There is no scientific study I can point to. What I see is that people feel lighter and react less. Cord cutting does not erase love or memory. It only stops someone else’s energy from running your day. If the bond feels very old and very heavy, it may be a soul agreement. My page on what a soul contract is explains that.

How to do a cord cutting ritual: 5 simple steps
This is a visualisation only. No knives, no burning paper. If you like, light a small diya before you start, keep it in a safe place, and do not leave it alone.
- Sit and settle. Sit where no one will disturb you for 15 minutes. Close your eyes. Take five slow breaths, breathing out longer than you breathe in.
- See the cord. Picture the person (or the place, or the job) in front of you. Notice where a cord joins you. Many people feel it at the stomach, heart or throat. Notice its colour and thickness. Do not judge it.
- Say what is unsaid. In your mind, tell them what you never said. Then say: “Thank you for what you taught me. I take back my energy. I give back yours.”
- Let it dissolve. Imagine soft golden or white light around the cord. Watch it slowly melt from both ends, until there is only light. Do not tear it. Gentle is enough.
- Fill the space. Put your hand where the cord was. Imagine that space filling with warm light. Drink some water. Write down one thing you will do differently this week.
Repeat it every few days if the pull comes back. Old cords often need more than one round. That is normal, not failure.
One gentle note: if a relationship involved abuse, or you feel unsafe, please work with a therapist or counsellor too. A visualisation is a support, not a safety plan.
What is ancestral healing?
Ancestral healing means releasing pain and patterns passed down your family line, like fear, money struggles or marriage troubles, so they stop with you.
In India we already know this idea in our bones. We honour the pitṛ (पितृ), our ancestors, through shraddh and through simple daily remembering. Ancestral healing adds one more step: noticing what they passed on that was not a blessing.
Signs you may be carrying something from your family line:
- The women in your family all married late, or not happily, for three generations.
- Everyone fears money running out, even when there is enough.
- No one talks about one uncle, one sale of land, one death. There is a silence.
- You feel you must succeed for the whole family, not just for yourself.
In ancestral healing, we look at where the pattern started, give respect to the people who carried it, and lovingly hand back what is not yours. You are not betraying your family. You are finishing work they could not finish.
Can trauma pass through generations?
Some research suggests it can. Rachel Yehuda studied children of Holocaust survivors and found stress-related gene changes passed to the next generation. This is a young field, and scientists still debate how strong the effect is.
Psychology adds another layer. Attachment theory shows that early bonds shape adult relationships. A frightened mother may raise a frightened child, without either of them choosing it. So trauma can travel through both biology and behaviour. The Akashic view calls this lineage karma. I wrote about it in more depth in can trauma travel through generations.
| Type of healing | What it works on | Simple example |
|---|---|---|
| Cord cutting | An energy tie to a person or situation | You cannot stop thinking about an ex |
| Ancestral healing | Patterns passed down the family line | Three generations of money fear |
| Past-life healing | Pain, vows or fears from another life | A fear of water with no cause |
| Soul healing | Beliefs and wounds held at soul level | A deep feeling of “I am not enough” |
What is soul healing?
Soul healing works on the root, the beliefs, vows and wounds held at soul level, and not just the symptoms.
Yogic thought calls the soul ātman (आत्मन्), the true self. The ātman itself is whole. What needs healing is the dust on it: the belief “I must suffer to be loved”, the vow “I will never trust again”. Soul healing is wiping that dust, slowly, with patience. Usually it includes the other three kinds of healing in the table above, because the roots are connected.

Quick answers
What is cord cutting meaning in Hindi?
You can call it “ऊर्जा के बंधन काटना”, cutting the energy bond. It means letting go of an emotional tie that still pulls you.
Will cord cutting make me forget the person?
No. You keep the memory and the lesson. You only stop feeling drained or pulled by them.
Can I do ancestral healing on my own?
You can start alone: light a diya, remember your ancestors by name, and write down family patterns you notice. For deeper work, a guided session helps.
Is Akashic healing safe?
It is gentle, but emotions can come up. It does not replace a doctor, therapist or medicine. Use it alongside them.
How long does Akashic healing take to work?
Some people feel lighter in a day. Deep patterns usually shift over weeks, as you practise new choices.
Can I get Akashic healing in a reading?
Yes. A 1:1 Akashic reading can cover relationship and ancestral questions, online or in person in Bengaluru.
Healing does not end on one good day. A cord loosens, a family silence breaks a little, and then life brings the next small test. Each time you choose differently, the old thread gets a bit thinner, and you get a bit more free.
